Lachi’s A cappella Arrangement of “Genius” by LSD Mixed with Beethoven’s 5th Is Exactly What 2020 Needed

If one could name five geniuses, they’d probably name Sia, Diplo, Lil Wayne, Labrinth and Beethoven. Well, now we must add Lachi to the list! Lachi and Mezzo, have released an a cappella cover of LSD’s “Genius Remix ft Lil Wayne,” on 15th of Sept. Mezzo sings all the vocals and instruments, and Lachi takes on Lil Wayne’s rap. But the catch is, the song is mashed up geniusly with Beethoven’s 5th symphony weaving in and out.

Lachi, a recording artist and songwriter, is also legally blind and composes a cappella hip hop arrangements when she’s not advocating for disability rights or writing novels. Lachi is best known for her consistent music releases, collaborating with top producers to release high-quality EDM songs every month. She was recognized in 2020 for a cappella arranging, receiving an Independent Music Award nomination for her cover of “Money” by Cardi B.

Based out of New York City, Lachi attended NYU where she began forming Mezzo. Mezzo is an all-female professional a cappella group known for representing the multicultural nature of New York. Bree Lalor is the lilting voice of Sia and Reynetta Sampson picks up right after Lachi’s rap with a strong Labrinth. The song was mixed by Alex Green who jazzed up Angie Kim’s brilliant vocal percussion.

From Lachi’s saucey rap at the start to Mezzo’s cathedral blends at the end, and the continued nods to Beethoven in the middle, the song is a master piece through and through.
