Casting sports stars for the role of recognisable movie characters is something you have probably never thought about before. But what if these global superstars did decide to switch careers, which roles would they suit best?
We think we have found the perfect movie character for three of the biggest names in sports today.
Roger Federer – James Bond
This is an easy one. Roger Federer could not resemble James Bond any more. The attire the Swiss player wears, his slickness on the court and the way he handles himself in interviews is all in the fashion of 007.
Federer is arguably the greatest tennis player of all time. He has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles and will be entering his 23rd year as a professional in 2021. The Swiss star is 6/1 in the tennis betting for the Australian Open, an event he has won six times already. Another major win in the sport could make him seriously consider retiring on a high.
If the former world number one does decide to look for a career change after tennis, he could do no worse than throw his name into the hat to be the next Bond. Don’t be surprised if you see him sipping martinis and driving Aston Martins in the near future.
Tom Brady – Indiana Jones
Tom Brady has had an incredible career in the NFL. The quarterback has won six Super Bowl rings and you wouldn’t rule him out adding more to his collection before he retires. He recently moved from New England to Tampa Bay to play for the Bucs, who are building a team to try and win the biggest prize in the sport.
What has been so impressive about Brady is his longevity. He has kept himself in incredible shape, which has ensured he remains one of the best QBs in the league at the age of 43. His talent and refusal to allow age to catch up with him makes him a great fit to play Indiana Jones.
Brady has been on many adventures in his career and at the end of many of these journeys, he has returned with the treasure. His next challenge outside of the gridiron could be as the famous explorer.
Conor McGregor – The Joker
Conor McGregor is one of the biggest characters in world sport. The UFC star is not afraid to speak his mind, nor is he short of confidence.
The Irishman is known for calling out his opponents and for getting underneath their skin, as we saw ahead of his clash with Floyd Mayweather in the Fight of the Century. This brash attitude is one of the reasons he is so popular with MMA fans.
The joker has been played by some great actors over the years and it would be great to see McGregor take up the role and put his spin on the character. Although McGregor is not necessarily a villain, he would take great pleasure in tackling Batman in a version of the film.
Although the above three will be concentrating on having success in their respective sports, for now, it would be great fun to see them switch to the movie world in the not too distant future.
