2019 BRITs British Breakthrough artist Tom Walker has launched the first of Sony Music UK’s new artist-led quiz series available exclusively for UK-registered Alexa devices, “Number One Fan”.
Beginning this Monday (7 September) and taking place over the course of one month, fans will be invited to tune into the skill daily to answer questions about Tom’s childhood, music and life on tour — all posed by the man himself. As well as putting their knowledge to the test, fans in the UK will have the chance to win exclusive signed single artwork for his latest track “Wait for You”.
Fans can enable the skill in the Amazon Alexa Store in the UK only by saying “Alexa, open Number One Fan” to their Alexa device. They will then be greeted by Tom’s voice to explain how the quiz works and how to answer the questions.
After being tasked with the first question, fans will then be encouraged to return to answer a new question the following day for a period of 30 days. They will also be asked if they would like to opt-in to reminders and enter the prize draw.
Relentless recording artist Tom, whose global streams have just passed two billion, was one of the biggest selling UK artists last year. Commenting on the launch of the skill, he said: “Really excited to be part of this campaign with Sony Music UK to be the first artist to host the Number One Fan music quiz! I had a lot of fun recording these questions and I know you’ve all been enjoying quizzing under lockdown so I hope you enjoy this one, it’s all about me haha!”
The Tom Walker edition of this quiz is acting as an initial pilot for the skill before launching “Number One Fan” as a rolling series with more artists in the coming months. The skill was produced by Sony Music UK’s 4th Floor Creative.
