INTERVIEW: Les Fradkin

Q: Hi Les, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

A: Very well. Thank you!

Q: Can you talk to us more about your latest single “System Crash”?

A: System Crash was written from multiple perspectives- the past, the present and the future. An observer in the distant future looking back at events that hadn’t happened as of the creation of the song and from the perspective of an observer in the present,  looking at events that are happening now and that might be happening in the future!

Q: Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

A: A vision of the Future.

Q: Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

A: The video of “System Crash” is on YouTube

Q: How was the recording and writing process?

A: It took awhile to record the song. The writing process revealed the lyrics first,

The melody next, and the introduction last.

Q: Written back in 2003 where music was completely different to what is to date – did you try to capture the landscape of the time or modernize it?

A: I wasn’t paying any mind to the sounds of that time. My sound results from being a classically trained musician who composes and plays Progressive rock.

Q: How does the 70s still influence your music?

A: My use of the Mellotron for Strings and Flute on my recordings has lasted since the 1970’s.

Q: Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?

A: There is a new album featuring the single- “The Les Fradkin News”

Q: Any tentative release date or title in mind?

A: Released July 30, 2020

Q: What else is happening next in Les Fradkin’s world?

A: Waiting for the world to catch up!
