INTERVIEW: Dobie

Hi Dobie, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello VENTS! Thank you,  I am very busy but fine, how are you?

Thank you for your interest in my music and my  latest releases L.O.V.E

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “L.O.V.E.”?

There is nothing more beautiful than loving and being loved. That is our essence. Regardless of age, the feeling of love is the strongest driver in life and universe. Love Is simple when you love somebody.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Yes, love!

Also, it was life and my own introspective.

From time to time we all summarize a certain time periods in life, experiences, and we draw some conclusions.

Conclusions are sometimes subjective and sometimes objective, but either way, they are our personal conclusions based on our feelings and our own perception.

The simplicity and power of love, and my own life experiences were my creative base.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

Video is already available on YouTube – https://youtu.be/feZi5zyYSR4

How was the recording and writing process?

It’s an interesting story. The main theme (lead) of the song I made back in the early 90s. The moment for release came by itself.  The song was produced in my studio in Zagreb (Croatia) by mini me, the vocal by Myra Bro was recorded in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) in the studio of producer Brad Grobler. Everything was done very quickly. I sent track and lyrics to Myra Bro and I flew to Rotterdam.

What was it like to work with Myra Bro and how did that relationship develop?

First of all, Myra Bro is a very professional singer and a very interesting person. Working with her is always a lot of fun and lots of laughter, which makes the whole process simple and fun. L.O.V.E is not our first joint project.

We were introduced by a mutual Facebook friend and we have started conversation. Shortly thereafter we met in Rotterdam to record vocals for the song “Dublin Rain” at Brad Grobler’s studio. After that we made few  more songs together (“Without You” and “Dreaming” for my duo Universal Flow band).

What did she bring to the table?

In L.O.V.E,  she brought her amazing voice and talent, and after session excellent champagne and steak lunch in Rotterdam. J

She practically recorded the song L.O.V.E out of the first attempt, which only proves her talent and professionalism.

Considering our previous collaborations, her voice color as well as other vocal possibilities and talent that are very wide, and therefore, we did together acoustics, electro pop and trance songs.

How has the likes of Pet Shop Boys influenced your writing?

Wow, long story. I met Neil  and Chirs twice, we talked about music, of course. At that time I was kid, 17 years old.

But the most important thing from that story is that while I was listening to Pet Shop Boys in the 80s, I started listening to music in a different way, in a way that I analyzed the songs while listening. And that left a big mark in my musical expression because I don’t give up some basic settings of pop music even in other music genres which I compose and produce.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

In August I released song “Awakening” in collaboration with producer TrippleX and vocal performance by Brad Grobler. Track is available on all major music platforms. Check it out!

At the moment I am working on several projects, but I must point out collaboration with Xavier Clayton (writer of songs “The World is Mine” with David Guetta, “Tribal Dance” by 2Unlimited, etc) on song “Techtronic” which is almost finish.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

As I stated above, “Techtronic” will be release in October 2020, in last quarter you can expect several new songs and remixes.

Working with artists like Xavier Clayton, whose talent and creativity literally have no limits, is amazing and unstoppable.

I must mention collab with Dutch house producer Brutu Music on new hot house track which is in final stage.

So, you can expect some good music for sure!

Any plans to hit the road?

All plans related to performances are stopped due to “plandemic”, clubs are limited or close. I hope that 2021 will be better and easier for all of us.

What else is happening next In Dobie’ world?

Summer time is over, we all are coming back to our daily routines. I enjoy my hobbies and I enjoy life.
