INTERVIEW: Nathasha Rumbos

Hi Nathasha, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi! I’ve been doing well taking this downtime to create more music and really focused on building myself as an artist. It’s been a crazy 5 months but blessed that I’ve been able to turn it into something good for me.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Gozala”?

That was my first song and it will always hold a special place in my heart! It’s a song that came out right when quarantine started and it’s about letting go, having fun and enjoying life.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

This song was actually inspired when I went to celebrate carnivals in Colombia early this year in February. I loved how everybody over there was full of life and so carefree. Their motto was “Pa Vivirla Hay Que Gozarla “ which means to live it you have to enjoy it and that’s where the inspiration came from. I wanted to write something that people could get their energies up and put aside what’s going on in their life for those 3 minutes of the song. It’s all about trying to find the brightness and fun to everything!

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

There is a music video out already which you can see on my website www.nathasharumbos.com along with all the other songs that I have released. Since we had released this song right when everything started closing we didn’t have that many locations to shoot it so we improvised and made a fun video with a special appearance from Zac Efron.

How was the recording and writing process?

I wrote this song in Colombia and it was just perfect. Being influenced by everything that was going on over there with carnivals really inspired my creative juices to write the song. When I got back to Miami I called my co writer John Stewart and we laid it down and it was added to a popular playlist by Colors X Studios and it’s been hitting off in Europe!

What role does Miami play in your music?

The best thing about Miami is that it’s a melting pot. There are so many cultures here that one song can have influences from so many! I’ve grown up almost my entire life here and I’ve been inspired by Shakira, Karol G , Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and so many others. When someone thinks of Miami the first thing that pops up are fun times and that’s what I want my music to be all the time. Full of energy and life like Miami!

How has the current situation with the pandemic has influenced your work?

This really helped me dig in deep into my music. I recorded 6 songs during quarantine and that was great because before any of this happened I was a very busy person. I worked part time at a restaurant and part time at a radio station so finding a lot of extra time was hard at the moment. Right now I only work at the restaurant and it’s given me so much free time to focus on brand new music.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes and Yes! I already have my next song getting mixed as we speak and it will be launched within the next month with the music video already done!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I don’t have a specific date yet but the title of the song is called Niegame. It’s a song about a guy who tries to play a girl but the girl plays him in his own game.

What else is happening next in Nathasha Rumbos’ world?

Apart from music I’m a bartender and a co-host on a show on Youtube called Movie Reviews N More. I love tackling other areas to see what else Nathasha Rumbos can do in this world!
