Can you tell us more about your latest single “Every Time”?
Every Time was really relevant to the world around me and the world that everyone is living in right now. In a time of “virtual life”, knowing you have people in your life that are your rocks makes all the difference. For me it is also about an endless bond with someone. For me that is my family, my boyfriend and my closest friends. These are the people that are my forever and that is what this song represents.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
The song was actually written by the amazing Grammy winning producer Rob Chairelli along with The Highfields.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
There is a video that was really fun and cool to make. Features my hometown which was so fun to do.
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording process was super unique. I recorded this song from Denver in my house on my computer. This was a very new and different experience for me. I really missed the energy of the studio and the people around me but given the meaning behind the song it almost felt fitting to record it in my home surrounded by the people that this song reminds me of.
What role does California play in your music?
California influences my music so much, more than I ever realized honestly. When I know a song is right for me or the audience I want to reach I think of how I would feel if I was driving down PCH with my windows down blasting the song. If i get that rush of life when I hear the song or think of CA I know it is a good fit. A lot of who I am and my life comes from living in CA and the time I spent growing up there. The vibe and the scene in LA really impacts me.
How has The Lumineers and Amy Winehouse influenced your writing?
I always say that music is meant to make you feel something that you didn’t know you could. The music that the Lumineers and Amy Winehosue have made make you feel everything possible. They also make you feel incredibly alive and that is something that I really try to chanel into my music.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Balancing music, recording from home as well as working full time in education has been pretty difficult for me so I am doing the best I can to keep up with recording and getting new music out there!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Yes! I am working on getting my next song released next month, it is called “All We Had” and it is by far my favorite!
What else is happening next in Isabelle Fries’ world?
Who knows! I am really letting life run its course right now and focusing on my work life and creating a new adult life for myself in Denver!
