Hi Youngr, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Absolutely fantastically well, thank you.

From all the songs out there, why did you choose to cover Autoerotique’s “Count On You”?

Cause it’s a straight up banger.

What was the approach you went after with this?

My approach I guess was to make it EEEEVEN more of a banger. if that was possible.

How did you go on balancing the original with your own take?

I’m not really arsed about finding a balance between original and my own take. i just make whatever feels right. i guess the balance comes cause I never fuck with the vocal too much, I always let the vocal do what it did in the original, everything else is up to the universe.

The remix comes off your new record Mixtape Vol. 1 – what’s the story behind the title?

the title is actually “Bootleg Mixtape vo.1” … and it kind of says it in the title, but it’s going to be my first mixtape release of bootlegs…  if you hadn’t guessed! 😱

How was the recording and re-writing process?

it was magical – I just load the vocals in and twist loads of knobs, hit some keys, smash some drums, and 6 hours later, a new little bootleg song would pop out.

How did you pick which songs you wanted to make your own rendition of?

My A&R, Jurrien Romeijn, sent me a massive list of tunes on the Armada catalogue and said, which ones you wanna remix? so i listened through and chose my favourites!!

Did you find inspiration for the songs in other places besides the original source?

yeah, I looked in the fridge and saw some mouldy hummus and that was the essence I wanted to capture in the basslines! The common thread.

What else is happening next in Youngr’s world?

Not much! Probably just trying to figure out how to pay rent. by the way, i am getting paid for this interview? 🤑
