INTERVIEW: Alexandra Fresquez

You have a new single out, “Stay”; what inspired this song?

This song was inspired by some of the relationships I’ve had in the past, where I couldn’t stay in the relationship any longer, because I new it just wasn’t for me, and that I was really just using them because I was bored or lonely, and knowing it was wrong. I’ve also been on the other side of that, so we wrote it from both perspectives.

What inspires your music?

I really want to help others, and I have been trying to use my music to raise money for causes that I believe in. I also want to inspire others, to do whatever they dream of doing.

How do you practice self care?

I am not the best at this, but lately, I try to remember that to have success in other aspects of my life, I need to also take care of myself. I try to make sure I get more sleep, and go to the gym. I try to treat myself every once in  a while. I attend my church groups (which are on zoom now), to better myself in a spiritual aspect. I also make sure I’m spending enough of my time with the right people. Surrounding myself with more positivity.

How do you overcome setbacks and disappointments?

I just keep moving forward, and try to think of everything as something I can learn and grow from. I try to never let my feelings get hurt, knowing that disappointments and setbacks will help me in the long run.

How would you define success?

As being at a point in your life where you feel like all your hard work is paying off. Every little step forward is successful, but I want to be at a point where I can make a big impact, and be able to help more people through my music.

If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?

Mark Ronson, I think he is amazing. I would also love to work with Christina Aguilera, she is my absolute favorite, and I truly look up to her.

Where can we check out your music and connect with you on social media?
