Avoid These Skincare Mistakes If You Are Planning Your Wedding

Every young woman dreams of becoming a radiant bride on her special day. She visualizes herself in a flawless dress, beautiful shoes, glamorous make-up and, of course, glowing skin. As soon as the wedding date has been decided on, she starts a journey of careful preparations to make sure that she will carry this dream to reality.

However, with intensive wedding preparations, there’s a lot of stress and it’s difficult to keep the skin at its finest. And in the hunt for a fresh and radiant skin, you might end up making mistakes in skin care. Here are some of the biggest errors that every bride is expected to avoid.

Eating anything

While brides follow diets and are particularly sensitive to their intake of food, many are not aware of the impact of food on their body’s pH balance. Foods that reduce pH levels, such as alcohol, sugar, carbonated drinks, and egg yolks, are acidic.

Green vegetables, certain fruits, seed and lemons are alkali in nature and help regulate body pH levels. Unbalanced pH levels result in inflammation of the skin, severe sensitivity, and acne. Ensure that your diet has a ratio of 70:30 for alkaline to acidic foods to maintain a proper pH level.

Trying out new skincare products

Quite often, the need for flawless skin is so severe that most of the brides are taken in by chemical cleansers and facial treatment. This is a major no, particularly if you’ve never tried these treatments before.

If it doesn’t match your skin, it can also lead to a breakout. So, don’t dive into a new procedure right before your wedding but stick to the skin care routine you’ve already been doing.

Forgetting to take care of your body.

If you’re anything like a traditional bride-to-be, you can get so wound up thinking about your face that you’re ignoring what’s going on with the rest of your body. Hydrate and moisturize the areas you will see on your special day and take care of the dry areas, such as feet, knees and hands.

Exfoliating too much

In order to protect the acidic mantle of the skin and preserve its natural balance, it is advised to use a moisturizing soap that is pH neutral or a pH level of 7. Search for soap and cleaning items that are pH neutral that moisturizes and nourishes your skin.

Taking in too much alcohol

Avoid taking some alcohol a week before the wedding. If you and your bridesmaids plan to have some bachelorette party that include alcoholic drinks, make sure you do this at least two weeks before your wedding.

Alcohol can damage your digestive system and cause discoloration and dehydration in your skin, so concentrate on drinking lots of water instead to remain hydrated. Note, you can drink whatever you want on your wedding night, no one’s going to stop you.

Doing tan too close to the wedding.

Don’t book your tanning appointment the day before the wedding; instead, slowly create color over a few visits in the weeks prior to the big day. Get the lightest color you can, and let it develop. This will encourage you to check whether or not you like it, so you can regulate the evenness of the tan better. Plus, the false tan requires time to set in — if you apply it the day before, you run the risk of damaging your gown.

Failing to check ingredients of your makeup and skincare products

While it is understandable that you are in a rush to buy the things you need to look good on your wedding day. Taking some seconds to check their ingredients first before purchasing is crucial because you may not know what’s in there.

Parabens is one of the substances to avoid when purchasing skin care or make-up items. Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives in nearly all of the skin care products and have been associated with breast cancer and can disrupt hormones.

Finally, no matter how tired you are or how sleepy you are, be sure you remove all of your makeup before you go to bed. When you sleep with makeup, it will inevitably clog your pores and lead to build-up of dead skin as well as forming impurities in your skin.
