Contemporary R&B singer-songwriter syd B returns with a powerful new video to accompany her recent release, “good good”. Following the release of her single “Lights On“ earlier this year, syd has been taking time over the past few months to reflect, evolve, and create – “You can only really collaborate through a screen, and so we’re all sort of forced to find inspiration within isolation. Art, and music especially, speaks volumes when you have time to really dissect it and simplify it.”
“good good” is a deeply personal track about letting go of toxic, complicated relationships, even when that means leaving without getting a “good” goodbye.
Talking about the video visual, syd says: “I really wanted to emulate a darker side of the story through the lighting, the lonely, open setting, silhouettes while showing strength through stillness and small moments of powerful movement. I wanted it to start during golden hour to resemble me processing emotions, and get darker as the video progresses. I wanted to work with the director, Tak, specifically because he has an insane eye and his editing style is so unique. We had so much fun making it, too, which is the best part about working with friends.”
