Cheyenne Dan is a surf-influenced power-pop group based at The College of New Jersey. Formed in summer 2018, their unique sound lands them somewhere in the middle of Car Seat Headrest and Parquet Courts. The band consists of songwriters Jonah Malvey (vocals/guitar) and Dylan Lembo (vocals/base) as well as Colin Lawn (drums) and Nick Theis (guitar). Notorious for their energetic live shows and comedic online presence, Cheyenne Dan is a champion of both irony and sincerity.
Cheyenne Dan has big plans for the summer of 2020. Shifting towards louder and more dense arrangements, everything is recorded and mixed in their home. “Happy Days” was their first single from their upcoming EP. Lyrically it is about depression and confusion about one’s identity, with an equally eclectic instrumental to support these themes. It will be followed by “Butterflies”, a song equally about failing relationships and the excitement and nervousness that comes from starting new ones, as well as the self reflection and feelings of inadequacy that comes with them.
