The Benefits of an Offset PTO Flail Mower

Offset PTO flail mowers allow you to cut closer to hedge rows and fences than a conventional flail mower. You can also cut the growth before it’s been run over with the towing vehicle, leading to a even cut. We have outlined two of our favourite machines below.

The Winton offset flail mower WHF200 is a heavy-duty machine which is perfect for tackling overgrown areas. This mower is fitted with hydraulic side shift A-frame as standard for added manoeuvrability and also better access to hard to reach areas. This requires 1 double acting spool on the tractor for the 2 hoses which then operate the left-right movement. The offset function means the flail is ideal for cutting up to hedgerows, fencing then around any trees.

Fitted with heavier hammer flails and gearbox for tougher grass and weed control. This flail can then be used when grass and weeds are at a more manageable length to give a fine grass finish for lawns or sports fields when used regularly. Several hammer style blades are mounted to the cylindrical rotor in a spiral layout. This action is most efficient and creates finer cuttings. It is also better suited to uneven ground types than conventional rotary and topper mowers. The mower is also belt driven, there are 3 drive belts which give power to the blade rotor shaft.

This machine benefits from an adjustable rear roller, this can then be adjusted up or down along with the tractor top link arm to change finish and cutting height. The rear roller helps to avoid blade scalping on uneven areas. The mower also benefits from 2 height adjustable skids to adjust the cutting height. It also helps to avoid the mower scalping and leave an even cut when mowing.

Alternatively, the Agrint flail mower MTP158 is perfect for cutting grass and brambles in paddocks and can leave a fine lawn finish when used regularly. Mistral flail mowers have a lightweight construction specifically designed for lower horsepower sub-compact tractors. The narrower width models are ideal machines for cutting between trees in orchards and vineyards. This style of mower has hammer blades for overgrown pasture topping.

This mower is also fitted with a manual side shift A-frame as standard for added manoeuvrability and also better access to hard to reach areas.

The machine has several hammer style blades mounted onto a cylindrical rotor. The multiple blade action then creates finer cuttings on areas of longer grass & weeds. It is also better suited to uneven ground types than conventional topper mowers. The mower is belt driven; the multiple drive belts give power to the blade rotor shaft.

This model benefits from an adjustable rear roller, this can be adjusted up or down along with the tractor top link arm to change the mower angle and cutting height. The rear roller also helps to avoid blade scalping on uneven areas.

This large selection of PTO flail mowers for compact tractors includes machines which can be attached to either a category 1 or category 2 linkage.
