The 6 Coolest Hair Trends for Summer 2020

Summer is the time for flowing dresses, frozen treats and long, relaxing days spent on the beach. However, this is also the ideal season to step outside your comfort zone and change up your look to match the easy-going summer atmosphere. If you’re in the mood for experimentation, here are some of the biggest and coolest hair trends for this summer you’re bound to enjoy:

1. The modern pixie cut

The iconic 60’s hairstyle is popping up everywhere once again, and is bound to be one of the biggest hair trends in 2020. This season, the modern version of the pixie cut is as short as ever, but with a bit of added texture for a cooler and edgier look. If you dare to go short this year, make it a point to ask your hairstylist to use thinning shears or a razor to add the necessary rugged texture that makes this hairstyle so chic, modern and fashionable.

2. Chic messy bobs

Although a good bob is always on trend, this classic cut has evolved over the last few seasons. Rather than perfectly straight hair and clean lines, we will see more jagged edges and a messier texture in 2020. Usually hitting right at the jaw line, and combined with cute curtain bangs, this chic bob beautifully frames the face, and suits nearly everyone. With the addition of some soft waves made with a curling iron, this gorgeous bob is bound to be everywhere this summer.

3. Long and layered styles

Although layers tend to get a bad reputation, this wonderful hairdo is always in style, and can beautifully complement any face shape. However, this year is all about length and volume combined with a layered hairstyle. If you weren’t naturally blessed with a full head of thick hair, then it might be a good idea to opt for natural and long clip in hair extensions that will instantly give you the fullness and volume your hair needs. That way, you can try out a gorgeous layered hairstyle in a matter of minutes, without a huge commitment.

4. Straight, sleek and glossy

If you’re often in a rush in the morning, then this straight and glossy hairstyle is perfect for you. Firstly, straighten your hair as much as possible to achieve that perfect, healthy and shiny look, and then slick back your hair at the roots for extra sleekness. If you want to go for a “wetter” hairstyle, apply a lighter gel, and brush it through the upper half of your hair for added texture. If you just want a sleek and polished style, without looking wet or greasy, you could also substitute the gel for oils or lightweight paste, and then add a shine spray for the ideally glossy look.

5. The reinvented scarf

Instead of being a chic ‘70s-inspired accessory wrapped around your head, scarves have gotten a more interesting and unique function this season, mostly seen entangled in beautiful braids. To make this easy yet stylish hairstyle by yourself, simply replace one of the three sections you would normally use for a braid with a colorful or patterned scarf. Apart from being a cool new hairdo, the scarf might also add some necessary volume to your braid. Alternatively, you could also make a classic ponytail, and then tie a few strips of black ribbon along it, for a more fun variation of this style.

6. Delicate crystals

The trend of the bold, bright, gemstone adorned Euphoria makeup we’ve seen everywhere in 2019 has come back once again, only this time in a more delicate and intentional way. This year, the rhinestones have moved up, towards your hairline. The trend was mostly seen as a subtle pattern of crystals applied along the hair parting, combined with loose and messy hairstyles. However, it’s also a brilliant way to embellish baby hairs when wearing buns or ponytails. Either way, just a bit of crystals along your hairline will instantly elevate any simple hairstyle, without needing to make any big commitments.

From new cuts and styles to unique and fashionable accessories, the hair trends for 2020 are as diverse as ever, and are ideal for changing up your look and trying something different for the upcoming seasons.
