Hi Timbo, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey, I’ve been well, just getting back to grips with life after Covid-19 laws have been eased. Getting ready to go back to travelling the world, meeting new people.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Tic Tac Toe”?

So my latest single Tic Tac Toe was originally about me wanting to give back to the young people in my community and raise awareness really. I wanted to do something that wasn’t just simply giving back to the less fortunate as I feel sometimes it can look very unnatural and a bit patronising.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Well tbh my original plan was to start a challenge that young people in school can relate to and dance together. But then Covid-19 hit and then I decided to put the release on hold until the unlawful killing of George Floyd.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

Pretty straight forward as it was an animation I could be as creative as possible and use my ideas.

How was the recording and writing process?

I really enjoyed recording the song as everyone was in the studio and ideas were just flowing I literally can’t even remember how the night went but it was lit.

What role does South London play in your music?

I wouldn’t really say that south London specifically plays a major part in my music. Being a Londoner with a strong African background however has had influences, especially growing up in Bermondsey (Home of Millwall football club) definitely played a part in establishing my own genre of music.

With the major reception your music has gotten – does that put any pressure on you as you work on a new material or rather the material?

Tbh its more the material, as I can do anything, but sometimes you’re stuck between what you like and what’s hot atm so yeah its really the material I have pressure with as I’m always seeking perfection.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Any plans to hit the road?
