INTERVIEW: Bleed Again

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey guys, yeah we’ve been good thank you!

Just being as productive as we can be over the last few months, trying not to let lockdown etc slow us down!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Survive”?

The song itself is mainly about not having the support you need at times from those close to you. Maybe not being believed in fully or given the chance to fight for your right to chase your dreams.

The chorus is mainly about a feeling of clarity when something/someone comes into your life, giving you reason to get up in the mornings, whilst hoping they’ll also understand the sacrifices you’ll have to make and support you fully.

The instrumental side of things was mainly a collaborative effort between Simon & Sam and lyrics written by James and Sam with the others critiquing sections leading to a song we’re all very proud of!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I wouldn’t say any one particular event inspired the song, a few combined factors have definitely influenced sections of lyrics for sure!

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

We do yes, our video for ‘Survive’ is coming out on the 31st July!

How was the recording and writing process?

When it came to recording the single ‘Survive’, due to the lockdown, we had to do something we’d never done before. Like most bands, we would usually book studio time and record our parts one by one but all be together.

However, we had to find alternative measures and have luckily had the facilities to record our parts from home and sent off the stems to be mixed by Justin Hill (ex-Sikth).

He absolutely smashed it and we’ve decided to record the rest of the album the same way with live drums.

What role does the South Coast of England play in your music?

In terms of playing shows it helps us as there seems to be an abundance of bands so there is always a show to go to or play. This can be a blessing and a curse though as there is so much competition so standing out is key!

We believe this new song and the upcoming album is going to turn heads and surprise people a bit.

It’s a bit of a change and ‘step up’ in song writing, we’ve really taken our time and pushed ourselves to create a song and album that we are very proud of!

How has Metallica and Killswitch Engage influenced your writing?

I think most metal/rock bands would agree that both Metallica and Killswitch Engage have influenced them one way or another. Whether than be their song writing, work ethic, live performances or the tracks themselves.

Metallica with their riff assault and relentless live performance and KSE with their heavy verse/melodic chorus signature sound have both shaped more than a few bands over the decades, us included!

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Haha well, as I’ve no doubt mentioned a couple of times already…

We have an album 90% there which we are recording asap really!

Of course things are all a bit up in the air this year with schedules etc. but we are aiming to have it all recorded and finalised by the end of the year.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

We haven’t decided on an album title yet and as far as a release date goes, I’d expect to see us announce that near the end of the year.

Any plans to hit the road later this year?

Again, unfortunately depending on Covid’s stubbornness but we’re hoping to squeeze a few shows in before the end of the year!

Fingers crossed aye…

What else is happening next in BLEED AGAIN’s world?

Well with our brand new single ‘Survive’ coming out along with the music video for said song on July 31st, our new album being finalised and recorded as we speak and hopefully playing some shows this year, we’re raring to get out on the road and make up for any lost time this year by tearing venues a new one!
