Dolche releases the moving love song “Criminal Love”

Christine Herin, previously known as Naif Herin and now known professionally as Dolche, is an Italian-French singer, songwriter, composer and record producer already boasts a 20-year music career, more than 500 concerts in Europe with and key collaborations with Grammy Award winning professionals. Her work is well- known for its distinctive musical style and blending of different genres such as folk, chanson française, world music, classical music, funk, electronic. She now releases the third single of her forthcoming album Exotic Diorama (out Oct 2020) – is the beautiful track Criminal Love – out now.

Criminal Love is the only track on the forthcoming album which was recorded with no interruptions. Dolche’s voice was recorded while she simultaneously plaid the guitar in the cozy bohemian recording studio of Tobias Froberg in Gothland island, Sweden. This one-shot recording was the first that was recorded. It had such a magical equilibrium between the parts that it was chosen to preserve the intimacy, the authenticity and the truthfulness of the performance.

Dolche composed the track for her wife Chiara. An atypical love song about the overwhelming force of a violent passion – an unavoidable force. But a good one. Dolche and her wife have often been described as a power-couple and are proud supporters of LGBT rights. Considered by Dolche herself as the “sister song” of her famous version of Psycho Killer, this song shares with it many similarities. Both were completed in an hour, following a sudden inspiration and both have a gentle yet eerie sound that captivates and intrigues. Dolche was tempted not to record this song or include it on her forthcoming album. It was only when co-producer Tobias Froberg and her wife protested so much that she had to reconsider. It was a wise move as this is one of the most acclaimed and applauded songs when Dolche performs live.

Criminal Love is a love story between two people over a lifetime. The video beautifully illustrates this by symbolically depicting one love story, beginning when the protagonists were children and ending when they are old, using different dancers to impersonate the same couple in different ages.Essentially a simple story of ‘boy meets girl’ – we keep following them until they age and face a very sad ending. The simplicity of the narrative, shot in black and white, is moving and powerful. The shoot was choreographed between Dolche and Sadeck Berrabah, creator of the famous Geometrie Variable dance show, who devised a specific geometrical choreography for the single. The concept was to narrate love in all its different emotions: passion, hate, fun, attraction, distance, peace, regret etc. The professional tango dancer who dances with Sadeck is the extraordinary Colombian Maribel Lopera Sierra who is also an acclaimed doctor of nuclear medicine; the younger dancers were selected from local dance schools.

Dolche’s new album, Exotic Diorama, will be released in October 2020.
