25-year-old Steven Correa goes from a struggling Floridian to a successful techpreneur

Born and raised in Miami, Florida by South American immigrant parents, Steven Correa had nothing close to a luxury lifestyle growing up. As immigrants, Steven’s parents faced several challenges, including unemployment, limited access to healthcare, and language barriers. However, they did not let these challenges deter them from giving their family the best they could afford. The resilient spirit seemed to have rubbed off on Steven as he grew up with the determination to make a name for himself and break the cycle his family was caught in.

Steven enrolled in Florida International University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, like most American in his age bracket would do. The young Steven had to work to put himself through college due to the financial challenged his family faced. The schooling experience was vital in the latter part of his life as it provided him with the opportunity to network with new people from different walks of life. This only triggered his love for entrepreneurship and the possibility of doing more with the skills he acquired before receiving a degree.

Steven Correa literally looked away from a couple of internships and a handful of 6 figure jobs lined up post-graduation, as he desired more than ending up miserable like most people that threaded a similar path.

I encountered many young professionals and Entrepreneurs, like myself, interested in accomplishing their goals but forced into an educational system certainly outdated and not geared towards anything like that. It seems to be a system of robots, taught to think the same or memorize outdated information on the basis of being able to regurgitate for an exam,” said Steven Correa.

I quickly knew this wasn’t the path for me. So in a generation majorly influenced by smartphones, plus my background in computer programming, I dropped everything I was doing and began to study the app development space. This period in my life consisted of sleepless nights researching and learning, homeless for a couple of months squeezing in naps on friends couches or in my car to recharge,” Steven continued.

Steven emerged as a self-taught Graphic/ UI/UX Design expert ready to take on the world. Subsequently, he created THRV, a full-stack creative agency that focuses on software development and Design. The rest they say is history as he is currently doing exceptionally well as an entrepreneur in dynamic and highly competitive tech industry.
