Hi N, welcome to VENTS, how have you been?

Hey, I’m great. Feeling really blessed. Thank you.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Comfortable”?

Comfortable is my second release this year and was produced by Oddio. It’s in anticipation for my forthcoming EP out soon.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

No event actually inspired the making of this song. I was just curious enough to want to make a song about being in a love triangle and being kind of frustrated with the situation. I do know a few that have been in this so maybe it came to me subconsciously lol.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

To be honest, it went really well and smooth. It was shot in Lagos and there was a curfew in place at the time, so we had to be as efficient as we could. The crew was amazing to work with and we finished filming in due time. It was fun.

How was the recording and writing process?

Comfortable was written by me, Tamaraebi and Kurtis Williams – good friends of mine and we literally just put melodies down until we caught a vibe and then made a full song. The recording didn’t take too long after that.

What role does London play in your music?

I grew up listening to a lot of British pop, rock and R&B and a lot of these acts came from London, so it has played a big role in my music making process. Not even only inspiring my music but also, my personal style. I’ve always seen London as one of the fashion capitals.

How has Fela Kuti and Sunny Ade influenced your writing?

My dad played me these great artists when I was little and the one thing I really admired was their artistic freedom and how their persona radiated in their music and that’s what I pay attention to when I make mine.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I’m putting a body of work out real soon. I’ve been working on it for a while now but it’s finally ready and I’m really looking forward to sharing it with everyone.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

My EP is out next week. I can’t say anything on the title yet.

Any plans to hit the road?

I did have plans to do some things around the EP but it’s on hold for now.

What else is happening next in Noir’s world?

Definitely, more music to share with you.
