Things to Consider When Making Video From Vacation Pictures

So you have just returned from a family vacation. You have your SD card full of pictures of beautiful and exotic locations where you are having fun. You want to do something special to preserve the memory and even show it off to friends. A video slideshow is a great way to do just that. Let’s be honest, the video will always be superior to still images when it comes to creating a story. But if you don’t have that many video clips but still want to make a travel video of some sort, making a slideshow with the pictures available is a great idea.  Another way to use your pictures is to use them as transitions in your travel video. Using both video clips and still images you can create some unique and gripping stories through your video. Here are some tips as to how you should approach using still images for making videos.

  1. Take lots of pictures

First things first make sure to take a whole bunch of pictures. Try to capture as many moments as you can. This will give you a lot of options to choose from later. You don’t want to get to work only to find that there are some moments that you forgot to capture. It’s very important that you give attention to your environment and take lots of spontaneous of your friends, families and the location itself. In this case, the more pictures you have, the better.

  1. Plan, plan, plan

Planning is crucial to any sort of video making. Whether it is a slideshow or something a bit more, you should always set a clear objective in front of you. This will make the video making process go a lot smoother. Line up your pictures in sequential order in the timeline and take some time to imagine the final product. You should have a clear view of where you want to go. This practice will go a long way in helping you make well-furnished videos.

  1. Get creative

Take a creative approach to organizing your pictures in the video. There are many ways you can make the images look more appealing. You can choose a background where the photos appear or choose some nice frames or play around with the transitions. If you have some video clips throw them in the timeline in proper places and mix things up. Take your time and let your inner creativity guide you.

  1. Create a good atmosphere

Look at any good travel video and you will find one thing in common. It makes you feel like you are present in that location. Creating that atmosphere of adventure and excitement is very important in any good travel video. Using an appropriate soundtrack to set the mood is a good starting point. Music can help create an emotional connection with the audience. Pay attention to the type of template you choose for your video. It can either make your whole project look stunning or it can completely ruin the mood. You should try to create a good story with your pictures that keep the viewer’s attention.

  1. Using Effects

Play around with different effects available to you in the video or image editor. Edit your photo, play around with filters, and use different transition effects. It all depends on how you want the final video to look like. You have complete freedom in this sector but it might be a good idea to keep things simple at first. Play around with basic filters in the beginning and as your skills improve you will find yourself using more and more effects. Keep in mind though that using complicated filters and effects is not always the best course of action and sometimes less is more.

  1. Use apps

There is nothing wrong with getting some help if you feel stuck. There are many pictures to video maker apps out there these days to help with this type of project. These are worth looking into if you want to be serious about creating video slideshows. These apps can also be found on smartphones if you don’t have access to a laptop or desktop computer. Apart from apps, there are also many websites that provide professional help in these works. You can also check them out to see if they suit your needs.

The main difference between a video and a photo album is that a video feels alive and vibrant when compared to a still image. You should keep this in mind when making your video. You need to create an emotional connection with those watching your video. You need to make an impression in the viewer’s mind and make them feel like they were a part of your journey. You need to make them feel what you felt at the time of taking that picture.
