INTERVIEW: Billy Ray Rock

Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

Prince, Earth Wind & Fire,Van Halen,Rick James, Jimi Hendrix.

What do you want fans to take from your music?

A connection that stamps the where they were in their life, so when they hear it again it gives them a solid memory of what their life was like what job they had who they were dating etc. etc.

How’s the music scene in your locale?

No good mostly failed bands

What is the best concert you have been to?

Prince his 1999 Tour when I was in high school/ What do you like most about playing live? The energy and connection with each audience member the memories of the audience knowing I sound like the record and I am not a creation of the studio.

Is there a song on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

“Sunglasses at Night” because they Not a song out there that accomplishes what that song does. It is an EDM TRAP R&B dance track that has no Rap with R&B Vocals. Truly unique

How have you evolved as an artist over the last year?

I have found my lane I used to pick a genre. But as a Producer and writer I now refuse to do one genre, much like Prince I evolved to an artist that simply makes great music. Whether Rock or Dance.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

Prince.

What’s next for you?

To get anyone of my songs to terrestrial radio as radio can touch people that a concert can’t reach.
