INTERVIEW: Kiara Nelson

Hi Kiara, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello!  I’ve been good thank you. Very excited about the release!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Kisses For Breakfast”?

Kisses For Breakfast is a very special song to me. One of the first one we did together with my team. I think it’s a very sweet song about meeting someone that changes you for the better. A person that makes you want to dive in fully into the relationship even if you’re someone who’s usually scared to catch feelings. I think the song is a cute representation of the beginning of a relationship when you realise you really want to hold on to someone..And give them kisses for breakfast every day!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I just think it’s a very common situation to be in. A lot of people are scared of getting hurt which makes them scared to jump into a relationship. We wanted to make that feel good song about letting go of how you usually would handle a new relationship and just being free.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?

Yes! I’ve actually filmed the whole music video at home. I’ve had a lot of FaceTime calls & WhatsApp messages with my director and I really love the outcome. I’m nervous and so excited for people to see it.

How was the recording and writing process?

The recording and writing process is always fun because I love working with my team. We always have a good time. It’s just nice and simple doing it together.

What role does Jacksonville play in your music?

Well, I was only born in Jacksonville and haven’t been there since so I don’t know much about it. Being half american though has definitely influenced my sound and style. In Finland, where I was raised, artists usually stick to Finnish music whereas I always knew I wanted to aim internationally and sing in English.

How has Halsey and Mabel influenced your writing?

My biggest inspirations in music is Rihanna, Ariana Grande & Camila Cabello. Mabel & Halsey are very cool artists who are also very inspirational. I love Halsey’s way of writing. Unique, personal and true. I see Mabel as a confident empowering woman who’s true to herself. I love her music!

After the big reception from your previous musical work – did you feel any pressure when working on this new material or rather the opposite?

I haven’t felt pressure because I feel like all of our songs are special in their own way. When one song is doing well I just get even more excited to release more music. I want to show people the variety in my music even though my main genre is pop.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Yes, always expect new material! 😉

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Can’t say a lot but this year there will definitely be more music coming out after K4B.

Any plans to hit the road?

I wish! I would love to hit the road as soon as it’s possible. Nothing is set in stone yet though.

What else is happening next in Kiara Nelson’ world?

More music and more content for sure! It’s an exciting time.
