Heating repair – common problems

According to the Department of Energy (DOE), most of Canada households rely on the furnace for their heating needs. Reliable as this popular device, many common problems can hinder its operation. When these problems occur, they often decrease efficiency and can also cause air quality. Here are ten everyday heating repair tasks and their causes.

Dirty Filter

Failure to clean and replace your furnace’s air filters will undoubtedly result in reduced airflow knobs, making equipment harder to circulate hot air. Over time, the problem can also damage the limit switch that controls the fan.

Break

Although rare, the furnace may experience sudden, unexpected breaks. This problem is almost always the result of advanced age or insufficient maintenance. Regular service from an experienced heat repair professional should ensure efficient, reliable operation.

Incorrect thermostat

A dysfunctional thermostat can often cause problems with a blower or fan, which can adversely affect the comfort level of the home. The device should be inspected by an HVAC professional as soon as possible.

Heat Loss

A furnace that does not perform its primary function does not necessarily break. In many cases, the problem is an improper thermostat setting or a gas or pilot light problem .The most common cause of this problem is clogged air filters at home. There is also the possibility that the device is not large enough to serve.

The furnace does not produce heat.

One of the common reasons for the need for heating repair is when the furnace no longer produces heat. The good thing is the cost to service furnace is fairly reasonable and affordable nowadays. There are many common reasons for this type of problem.

– The thermostat can be set too low, or it will no longer start the heat from the furnace.

– In some cases, the thermostat is not working correctly (in this case it may be easier to change the thermostat on its own).

– If it is a gas system, the valve providing fuel to the system may be clogged or not open enough to allow for proper flow.

– All orders without an electronic ignition system have experimental light.

– Fuse or circuit breaker can be rotated.

If these are problems, you can solve them on your own. Check if the thermostat is working; if it is, the next step is to check the fuse and repair any damage. If these steps do not work, or you are too nervous or do not try for any improvement on your own, you may need to call a technician for additional assistance.

Heating is not enough

In some cases, the furnace runs but it may not give the home enough heat. This is due to disruption of air flow in some part of the system. In general, changing the dirty air filter can help. If someone is blocking the outer debris, it should also be cleaned. In other cases, the gas burner may need adjustment or cleaning. Let the technician solve those problems.

If you experience any of the above problems, contact a heat repair professional immediately.
