A year ago no-one could have foreseen the largest health, economic and social crisis was heading our way. Even 6 months ago, it was something in China and many countries had no sense of urgency about the risk of a pandemic. But today the world is changed. Countries are shut down, borders are closed, people are wearing masks, and keeping their distance. Families have no income or have to risk their health to keep working. COVID-19 has killed almost 400,000 people globally as of now. Over 200 countries are affected. Almost 7 million people are currently infected. All around the world children and families are being devastated, not just by the virus but the impact it has had an everyday life. So we turn to you. With our Coronavirus Appeal, we ask you to step up the those who are most vulnerable and most in need.
Urgent support needed
In this global state of emergency, while we all feel the impact, it is the poorest who are hit hardest. Three billion people around the world cannot follow the basic advice of washing your hands and keep your distance. They live without running water, have no soap, and live in terribly cramped conditions. With a donation from you, we can help get these basic essential virus survival tools to those who need them. The Coronavirus Appeal will ensure more families are able to stay safe, the virus is less able to spread, and we can work together to slow down the virus until that vaccine is made.
Help those with no income
Children going hungry is not just a problem in third world countries. In the US a survey discovered that over 17 % of mothers with children under 12 have said their children are not eating enough because they cannot afford more food due to the pandemic. Two years ago that same survey was just 3% of mothers. With parents not able to work, millions are left vulnerable. Together we can protect those children, help their parents with food and basic supplies, all around the world. Please give any amount at all to our Coronavirus Appeal.
