Remorsefully Numb are an emo/post-hardcore outfit from Kansas City, Missouri. Often praised for having a hard-hitting sound riddled with emotion, the quartet formed in 2016 and released their debut EP Fairmount during the fall of 2018. Their time spent touring and playing regional shows has allowed them to share the stage with acts like Rarity, Future Teens and Unturned. On June 18th, they will be releasing a brand new single.
Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
We have been doing well! We have spent a lot of time finishing some songs we’ve been writing and working on.
Can you talk to us more about your upcoming single “Sapling”?
Well for starters “Sapling” is a follow up to our single we released a year ago called “Forfeit” and it discuses the aftermath of loosing someone because of your own selfish ways and not opening up and just being transparent with that person. Even when you think you’ve began to heal yourself you still bury away those things and have filed again to fully break away from your current position.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Yes, multiple events did. The song is a direct reflection of rel life situations and is written from a very personal stand point. But the lyrics are constructed for the listener to form their own individual meaning to better help them feel something and hopefully guide them through a tough crunch they might be in.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
At the moment no, however we had no intentions of a video for our last single so if the opportunity arises perfectly like it did last time then we will. We just don’t want to force ourselves to come up with anything. When things happen for us a lot of hard work and thinking went into it, but we would prefer it happens in the most natural way instead of sitting and forcing our selves to come up with ideas.
How was the recording and writing process?
For this song the recording process was very easy, we have had it stored away for a while and were very rehearsed so it was very fun to see it come to life in studio. The writing process took a little while just because we wanted it to be as good as it could possibly be. It went through several different changes especially on the verses being verse melody, vocal melody etc.
What role does Kansas City play in your music?
We are very proud to be from Kansas City, MO. After all our debut EP “Fairmount” was named after the neighborhood in Independence, MO that a couple of us live in, and it also happens to be where our rehearsal space is at. We don’t really rep our hometown in “Sapling” through the lyrics but the artwork was taken in Sugar Creek, MO at Kaw Field, not far from Fairmount.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new album – how’s that coming along?
This song will not be on a future record, however we are currently writing one.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
We hope to have a record out in 2021. We are pretty set on that.
What else is happening next in Remorsefully Numb’s world?
Definitely more touring and some recording.
