Already giving listeners two acclaimed singles in 2020 with “Hailey” and “Candy”, rapper, producer, and instrumentalist Marques Martin continues to excite and inspire on his latest single “Belles”.

A thematic continuation of his debut, “About 2 Die,” “Belles” is an infectious, melody driven and rhythmically defining gesture. With a fusion of instrumentation including brass and Latin inspired rhythms, Marques’ pays homage to his great grandfather, Puerto Rican multi-instrumentalist and musical pioneer Ramon ‘Moncho’ Usera.  His cadence pierces through and gives way to a lyrical stream of consciousness concerning life’s brevity and the necessity for one to embrace an identity that is solely his or her own. An honest approach that is a true nod to his Hip-Hop roots. Listen here

Once again with this release, Marques proves that he has a knack for creating ambitious works of art that melt away genre constructs for fluid, experimental appreciation. Such is his track record, working with other celebrated creatives like Skinny Macho, AJ Radico, Morian Thomas, and Louis Browne across different aspects of art.
