Burlington’s Francesca Blanchard has released the title track of her upcoming album in the form of a heart-rending music video, premiered by FLOOD Magazine. “Make It Better” is a refreshingly forthright ode to healing the broken heart. Much like the real-life process, the song starts slow, fragile, and reflective, thoughtfully building its way into a charged exaltation, a danceable canticle of self-love and letting go of what hurts. Blanchard shot the emotionally stirring music video on a summit she frequents in her home state of Vermont, following social distancing precautions.
Blanchard says, “Whenever I’m in dire need of returning to myself, I’ll turn my face towards the sun and go climb a mountain. Over the past year, I have danced alone to this song on mountaintops in my headphones, reliving the elation I discovered when I wrote it. It’s been a sort of private, secret celebration. Now that the song is no longer mine to keep, I wanted to share that dance with others, to bring it to life.”
