Artists who make music, live in their own world where they create magic using their singing and songwriting skills. These are powerful individuals who possess the power to initiate an entire movement that can bring nations across the world together.

There is one Italian-American, Gianni Mendes Toniutti, aka Gianni Mendes, who realized the role music plays in the lives at a young age. He wanted to play music and make a name for himself in the music industry. Today, he is known as the U.S. Immigration Law Guru. He is an immigration lawyer in the United States who was passionate about making music since he was just ten years old.

Living a Life with Two Passions

There are thousands of people in the world who live their life with multiple passions. Gianni Mendes has always been one of those passionate individuals. While he was fond of creating music, he was equally passionate about building a career in the world of law.

Gianni Mendes was born in Sao Paolo, Brazil, to a Brazilian mother and an Italian father.  His father, a great “aficionado” of Flamenco and close friend of some of the most famous artists of his time, was the one who introduced Gianni to this electrifying style.  Since then, the young boy was determined to make his own music someday.

The young and passionate Gianni stepped into music when he was just 10 years old.  He began learning music playing classical and Brazilian guitar. Soon, just like his father, the young Gianni fell in love with Flamenco music. Growing up in Italy, he started traveling to Spain with his father to perfectionate this style.  Flamenco is an art form Andalusia that combines several elements such as dance, singing, and guitar.  It is a musical genre known for its great emotional intensity and is distinguished by its graceful movements of arms, energetic tapping, intense laments, and guitar strumming.

In Spain, Gianni became one of the very few students of Flamenco maestros Manolo Sanlucar and Enrique de Melchor, two of the most prominent Flamenco artists of modern times.  With Enrique de Melchor, Gianni also had the opportunity to perform on tour all over Europe, with shows in Italy, France, and Spain.  While grooming his music skills, Gianni gave equal attention to his law education.  Gianni was a dreamer, and performing in front of a vast audience was one of his biggest dreams, and so was becoming a lawyer.

He completed his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Bologna, Italy, in the year 2002, and, the same year, he recorded his first album, called “Colores,” in collaboration with Enrique de Melchor.  He was taking both his dreams of pursuing music and becoming a lawyer side by side.

Gianni’s first album comprised of Brazilian sounds with flamenco music. It was a mixture of different cultures, and it recompiled some of the most famous Flamenco guitar pieces of modern time.  It brought together music by Paco de Lucia, Gypsy Kings, and the same Enrique de Melchor, along with original compositions by Gianni Mendes.  Moreover, famous Flamenco artists, including Guadiana, Juan Parrilla, and Antonio Ramos “Maca,” have participated in his recompilation. It was a milestone in his music career. However, Gianni Mendes’s music scene began to fade away when he decided to go to the United States to complete his master of laws.

Fading Music Career, Rising Law Career

Gianni went to the United States in 2003 to proceed with his career in law. He entered the University of Miami to complete his master of laws. He planned to return after his education, but the vibrant life of Miami caught his heart and captivated his soul. It was in the U.S. that a hope sprung into Gianni’s heart about giving his music career a boost, alongside his law profession. In 2005 he cleared his bar exam and started sending applications in different law firms. It was after he sent over 100 applications that he finally got a job in a well-known Californian law firm who was looking for an Italian-American lawyer.

While working at his first job, Gianni began building an identity on social media, such as MySpace and Facebook. He did that in hopes of creating an identity in the entertainment sector to fulfill his second dream. However, when Gianni moved to Los Angeles, he got busy with his job.  As becoming a lawyer was one of his dreams, he had a great time on his first job. It even helped him build a vision for his own law firm.

In 2009, he began working on his firm together with his Italian best friends. They together founded TLRT International Law Firm. It is a name made of the initials of all founders of the firm, including Tosolini, Lamura, Rasile, and Toniutti. During the years, Gianni specialized in immigration law, and today serves as the head of the immigration department of TLRT.  This field has somehow helped him stay connected to the entertainment industry. He has represented models, actors, singers, and athletes from all over the world.  Gianni and his friends have established TLRT as one of the most well-reputed Italian-American law firms. They have opened offices in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Rome, and Milan.

Finding His Way Back into Music

Gianni has been successful in fulfilling his dream of becoming a lawyer and believes it is now time to focus on his music career.  As of 2020, the Brazilian-born Gianni is working on his first Latin-Pop single, “Te Amaré,” which is inspired by Latin and Brazilian rhythms.

The passionate lawyer and music artist has composed “Te Amaré” himself and partnered with Tim Mitchell, the multi-Grammy producer of Shakira, for its production. The song features several well-known artists, including Lee Levin at the drums and Guillermo Vadala at the bass. “Te Amaré” also comes with a music video featuring female protagonist Candela Marquez, a Spanish soap opera actress, very well-known in the Hispanic Market.

Gianni Mendes Toniutti is a man with many passions. He is a successful immigration lawyer in the United States, has more than 70,000 followers on Instagram, and is on his way to becoming an established music artist.  He is a man who has proved to the world that it is possible to pursue more than one career in a single lifetime.
