London-via-Sydney artist Mali-Koa today unveils her beautiful new single “Some Things” – the second from her upcoming, highly awaited debut album.

“Some Things” follows on from the album’s powerful first single “Dancer”, written by Mali with Gil Lewis (U2 / Sigala / Emily Burns) and Robert Harvey (Gorgon City / Clean Bandit / Jax Jones) about challenging yourself to be the person you want to be, and arrived with chic visuals directed by Jess Journo (Lilla Vargen).

A contrast to the driving guitar-driven beats heard in “Dancer”, “Some Things” is a gorgeous ballad encompassed by tender pianos and lush strings. A visual asset will soon be released, which Mali filmed and directed at home by herself during the COVID19 ‘lockdown’.

Talking about the song and self-directed visuals, Mali-Koa explained: “This song is about all the times I’ve broken up with someone and thought, ‘I need to change my hair, reinvent myself and cut the carbs.’ I’m constantly clutching at change in the hope to feel better, especially at the end of a relationship. “Some Things” is about finally admitting that with time comes healing and change, but equally a lot of moments or feelings aren’t as easy to forget.”

With her debut album on the horizon, Mali-Koa’s music finds her carving out her own sonic lane, pairing candid production and vulnerable song writing at the crux of her artistry.
