SINGLE REVIEW: Good Stuff (Feat. Hannah Rose) by Vegas Sunset

What began as a studio-based project between friends several years ago has now developed into a fully-fledged exciting live act, Vegas Sunset. The Brisbane based group has just released their latest single Good Stuff. Featuring Hannah Rose who assists with the vocal, Good Stuff is a contemporary pop track with a killer chorus and a dancelike groove that will be a perfect fit for radio playlists. The track starts with a looped keyboard part that continues throughout the song. The verse is introduced, containing a sparse melodic structure supported by interesting background textures and a confident vocal performance. The track slowly builds from the verses into the pre-chorus, which introduces some of the fine background vocal work featured throughout the track. Then the chorus comes in, with that dance/hip-hop pop drum beat a remarkably catchy melody and chant section. The song keeps building, with Hannah Rose’s vocal coming in with the second verse. There’s a lot to like about Good Stuff after one listen you won’t be forgetting it anytime soon. Their style is reminiscent of bands like The Chainsmokers and One Republic but slightly different; Vegas Sunset’s pop sensibilities are just as sharp and astute but with perhaps broader in scope, and as the group have stated, their aim is to put ‘the missing ingredients of glamour, fun and showmanship’ back into music. The production is marvellous, focused and full of clarity and aural nuances, striking the right balance between the surprise factor and what one expects of a great pop record. If the chorus chants don’t get you the direct lyric will, with its meditation on personal relationships something everyone can relate to. Good Stuff is all set to be the next big pop smash and will no doubt elevate the band’s status across the nation with radio and streaming playlists sure to jump on this great new track.
