INTERVIEW: Lost Saints
Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
We’ve been great! Along with everyone else in the world, we’ve been doing our best to navigate through the Covid-19 Pandemic with high hopes that everything will return to normal soon and we can get back to playing shows and meeting fans!
Tell us the story of how Lost Saints came to be.
Having recently graduated from Belmont University, Afton moved into a small condo building where she met Derrick. They connected over their musical backgrounds and began getting together to sing around the piano for fun. Shortly after, Derrick met Chris at a writer’s round. Chris was a solo artist at that time, but Derrick had a feeling we would be a great fit as a trio and invited us over one night to sing. We immediately realized we had something special and spent the next year just getting to know each other better and becoming close friends. We really wanted the decision of becoming a band to happen organically, and it did!
Can you talk to us more about your upcoming new single, “We Don’t Fight”?
“We Don’t Fight” is an emotional ballad about learning to let go of a broken relationship. It takes a deep look into everything that was lost in hopes of finding something good in the aftermath. Unfortunately, that something good is a simple realization of “at least we don’t fight anymore.”
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
All three of us have experienced our fair share of heartache and lost love. It’s something that connects all of us and we wanted to express that hurt from a new perspective in hopes that the song’s vulnerability can move people to healing.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the single?
Yes, we plan on releasing a live acoustic performance video of the song along with the single!
How was the recording and writing process?
We had a blast getting this song to come to life. Having A-list guys like Jeff King and Tommy White track on it really took our vision to the next level. Our good friend Wayne Haun helped produce the vocals, and everything was mixed by the talented Joe Carrell. It is something we are very proud of and can’t wait for people to finally hear.
What role does Nashville play in your music?
Nashville plays a huge role in our music. There’s so much musical history in this town and there are also so many unbelievably talented new artists here and great new music coming out daily. It’s so easy to be inspired whether it’s by hearing something new that’s still in the demo stage, jamming with friends, or just by walking down Broadway and hearing the bands.. There is just something magical about creating here.
Does the new single mean we can expect more music coming soon? If so, how’s that coming along?
Absolutely, you can expect more music soon! June 12th is our release date for “We Don’t Fight” and we plan on putting out more music shortly after that. So, stay tuned!
What else is happening next in Lost Saint’s world?
We have several irons in the fire. We’ve been working on new music, that’s always our main focus. We were recently invited to perform on two episodes of “The Dailey & Vincent Show” that airs on Circle TV so we’re gearing up for the second episode to air on June 9th. We have one live show that has yet to be cancelled in the fall so for more details on that and to check out our newly stocked merch store you can visit our website lostsaintsmusic.com.
