Rigel Gemini and TIAAN have released another song titled “Day & Night”, a flowing dance track that touches on the multifacet energies of life. Produced by Ford, the upbeat yet serene single has hooks bound to stick in one’s head, reverberating with transcendent tones and harmonious electro-pop. “Day & Night” is meaningful material that grew from Gemini and TIAAN’s camaraderie and creative collaboration, resulting in two captivating Spring 2020 debuts.
After the April reveal of Gemini’s “I Can’t”, along with its innovative #stayhome music video, “Day & Night” arrives as a cool breezy summer bop. The single breathes with a collective readiness, resonating with the calm waters and crystalline spirit much needed after months of adjustment to the current political and social climate. Chill beats dalliance with synth sensations, a nod to New Wave, yet brims with the ambience of ‘90s underground techno and a fresh fusion of Now. TIAAN’s contribution of ad-libs and songwriting on “I Can’t” formed a major turning point for the blossoming bond between the artists; “Day & Night” is a conglomeration of their furthered friendship relating to the larger overall lessons of life on Earth.
“It’s been amazing doing a song with a music artist that I started out as a fan of and am now close friends with. It’s surreal to me because I used to walk down the street in San Francisco listening to her music on repeat for months on end, and then I met her by coincidence in LA,” Gemini beams. “The rest is history! We co-wrote the song and it’s a really special song for our friendship.”
Considering the hyper-attitude of “I Can’t”, “Day & Night” stands as a different mood altogether, showcasing the versatile range in which Rigel Gemini is able to thrive. “I Can’t” brought sass and style, along with a star-studded quarantine performance; alternately, “Day & Night” shimmers with ethereal verve, wrapped in poetic aura, proving Gemini is capable of many musical genres. “Day & Night” is feel-good and fresh, but above all it expresses Gemini’s depth in a positive and pleasant manner.
“The song is about the Gemini spirit, duality, and the two sides within all of us,” the rising indie artist explains. “It comes out on my birthday, the first day of Gemini season, so it has a personal meaning to me.” The accompanying music video is a lush psychedelic nod to future-forward nostalgia, complimenting the blissed-out wonder of the music, and will be unveiled during Rigel Gemini’s Virtual Birthday Fundraiser, which benefits Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF).
