Interview: BJRNCK

Hi BJRNCK! How are you?

“I’m great, can’t complain!”

When/How did you start/get into making music?

“I’m from Chicago, but honestly I say I’m half and half lol I grew up in Chicago and Los Angeles.”

What is your greatest inspiration for your music?

“My greatest inspirations for my music would have to be love and my everyday experiences speaking my truth in whatever that is.”

What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?

“The hardest subject I’ve ever written about was actually a song I just released called “Gennae”. It’s about my true self but not the good part. It talks about how sad I was with myself in that moment but how I’m going to overcome it. It was pretty hard because i’m usually always happy and in good spirits being that rock for everyone around me but this time I didn’t have that and was very vulnerable.”

What are the challenges of being an artist?

“So many challenges as an artist especially as a black female but I would say the biggest one is believing and staying  true to yourself when no one else understands. You always have to remember no one is going to believe in it more than you they will follow but you have to lead the way.”

Are you planning on releasing new music soon?

“I am working on my first body of work called Love Language. It’s basically about the ups and downs in a relationship and how I express my love through different ways. There isn’t a specific release date but very soon! Stay tuned.”
