Pop artist Red Moon shares her captivating new single ‘Medusa’, out today. Produced by Magnus Skylstad (AURORA), the track presents a whimsical yet serene journey to the depths of a metaphorical ocean.
As Red Moon explains, “I knew I wanted to write about those beautiful sea creatures for a while, as they represent something special to me personally. But when Magnus and I wrote the song, I feel it became more of a symbolic statement as well as a personal song. A reminder to myself that we all can be these glowing creatures in the dark sea. In a lot of ways, the ocean is very close to our mindset, which can represent our subconsciousness, emotions or memories we stack away, or maybe even repressed feelings.
Sometimes things get really heavy in my head, so I wanted to create something uplifting. Something that sounds like you’re floating in the water. A song that reflects both on talking about the repressed feelings and finding a voice and inspiration from within”.
Raised in Nittedal, a small Norwegian town shrouded in forests, Red Moon’s relationship with music stretches far back to her childhood. However, the arrival of ‘Red Moon’ was a long journey but one on which she was prepared to embark. The sleepy surroundings of her hometown did not quite offer Red Moon the chance to share her sound on a larger scale, so she spent a lot of her adult life travelling the world, meeting people and allowing their stories to influence her own craft.
Now, Red Moon finds herself working with some of her biggest musical influences to explore her feelings and share her distinctive sound. Heavily influenced by strong female artists including Imogen Heap and Sia, Red Moon’s fascination for melodrama and musical emotion is strongly reflected on this stunning new track, and throughout her work.
