Hi D-SAB, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
As good as I can be during this quarantine. Spend most of my time in the studio making music and experimenting with new genres!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “St. Lucia”?
Yeah of course! St. Lucia is a summer dance track that I created alongside Jono and Nate Woods. Our vision for this track was to create a summer anthem that would get people dancing.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Jono and I were sitting in the studio one night, brainstorming ideas for a new track, and we decided to create a track that we could play out throughout the summer. We had beach clubs and pool parties in mind when creating the track. We wanted to create a track that everyone could enjoy regardless of their musical preference.
How was the recording and writing process?
I decided to program moombahton style drums to start off the production process. I then wanted to create a chord pluck on the offbeat to create a wavy vibe just from the production alone. My goal with all of my tracks is to create an energetic vibe and I really wanted to incorporate that into this track as well. I used brass stabs and leads to develop the chorus and drop. These elements truly boosted the overall energy of the track.
Jono took care of the lyric writing process as I was producing. We recorded a couple ideas as drafts and once we found the melody for the hook we knew the track was going to be a fun, catchy and a special moment to share with our fans and the world especially for summer time. We are truly ecstatic about the outcome of this track and are excited to finally share it with the world.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
100%! One goal I have for myself is not be confined by a single genre. If you go through my discography you can see that I produce many different genres, but they all hold a specific energy in them. I am consistently working on new tracks to release and new boundaries to break. You can definitely expect more material from Jono, Nate Woods, and myself!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
While I had a few releases lined up for the summer and festival season, I decided to take a step back and release tracks on an individual basis, based on the current situation at hand. I will definitely be releasing music in the months of June and July, but I am not exactly sure which tracks I will release.
What else is happening next in D-SAB’ world?
Expect a ton of new music and a bunch of new genres. Jono and I have been working on a lot of hip-hop/R&B tracks that are really unique and I am excited to release those in the upcoming months.
