Celebrated photographer Hikmat Wehbi reminisces about his proudest moment – Czech, the women exhibition in Dubai

The road to becoming a celebrated photographer is full of the dynamic twist and turns you’d expect in the life of an artist. Photography is about inspiration and following one’s passion for capturing the beauty of the world. Sharing your work is one thing, but rising to notable acclaim is another, and the combination of both achievements is what creates legends. Celebrated photographer Hikmat Wehbi fondly recalls the warm reception his work has received and looks back on one of his proudest moments as an artist.

Looking back on his illustrious career thus far, Hikmat fondly reflects on one of his proudest moments as a photographer. “We launched the Czech, the women exhibition in Dubai highlighting the unique beauty of eastern European women, and it was received extremely well,” says Hikmat. “It was one of the first exhibitions where we decided to expand on portrait photography and experiment with new mediums. The end product was electrifying.”

Born in Lebanon, Hikmat fell in love with photography at an early age. The way a camera could capture images and landscapes at different angles and light captivated his imagination, and he continued to study photography further. “I noticed how beauty could not only be captured by a camera but also interpreted through vision and expression,” says Hikmat. “That is how I realized that photography was an art I wanted to pursue.

Wehbi moved to the UAE to pursue his career and founded W Studio. The primary focus was on portraits and fashion photography. He grew the business exponentially by constantly exploring new avenues. Hikmat elaborated on his passion, “Fashion and portraits are all about highlighting natural beauty enhanced by creativity. That is our motivation going into every project so that it shows in each of our exhibits.”

Launching any exhibit is hard work, but with his adjustment in the creative approach, this one was a bit more personal. “When I launched my Czech, the women exhibition in Dubai last year. I saw the admiration of people and the public for my work, and that made me feel proud and eager to work on my photoshoots more,” explains Hikmat. Being celebrated is one thing, but it’s appreciation and recognition that drives an artist to excel. Hikmat Wehbi continues to be one of the most respected photographers in Dubai and beyond as his work continues to draw adulation.
