Tired Of Yoga? Cool Ways To De-Stress At Home

In times of stress, people often turn to activities such as yoga, meditation, and tai chi as a way to relax the mind and find inner peace. Yoga, in particular, has become popular due to its health benefits, as not only can it help one to manage one’s weight and improve flexibility, but it can also help people reduce anxiety and depression. While doing mindful activities can help to melt stress away, doing the same things day in and day out can get tiresome. Sometimes, you just need to shake up your routine so you can stay in a positive frame of mind, and be healthier and happier even during trying times. If you’re tired of or need a break from yoga, here are some new and cool ways to de-stress at home.

Bust a few gymnastic moves

Most people think that gymnastics is difficult to learn once you reach a certain age, but adults can actually benefit from learning gymnastic moves. Not only can it improve strength, but learning to do cartwheels, a backbend, or a front flip can help you to overcome fear. Moreover, it brings out your inner child and distracts you from everything that’s been going on in the world.

To learn simple moves at home, try using equipment such as gymnastic wooden rings. You can use this as part of your core and arm workout to boost mobility and strength, then move on to other simple moves such as doing a bridge or a simple forward roll on the floor. Don’t forget to lay down an exercise mat or any other non-slip padding before doing floor exercises, and blast some Eminem or Jay Z to get you hyped. If you have a trampoline at home, you can use it to practice straight or star jumps before attempting fancier jumps. Always make sure that you have a spotter nearby, and warm up properly before doing gymnastic moves to reduce the risks of injury.

Go on a virtual garden tour

Basking in the beauty of nature can have a healing effect on the mind. However, one doesn’t even need to be outdoors to experience this effect as a study has shown that even just looking at pictures that depict nature can reduce and prevent chronic stress. Instead of looking for a new nature-themed screensaver, why not go on a virtual garden tour? Some of the world’s most beautiful gardens can be virtually explored using your smartphone or Smart TV, and you can tour iconic destinations such as Claude Monet’s garden in France, the RHS Garden Wisley in England, and the Keukenhof in Holland, among others. To enhance your virtual tour experience, play some K R&B such as Crush or Dean so you can listen to soothing melodies while looking at the flowers, or perhaps some Chet Baker to heighten the relaxing and dreamy vibe of your online garden tour.

Have a mini talent show at home

Stress can cause us to lose our sense of fun, so if you want to blow off some steam with your loved ones, why not have a mini talent show at home? Make a night of it and break out the karaoke machine so you can sing a duet with your partner (Best Part by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R. is highly recommended for this activity), or bust out some dance moves that would do BlackPink and BTS proud. Serve finger food and drinks to keep everyone going, and hand out prizes to everyone who participates.

Stress is a part of life, but don’t let it get the best of you. Try doing these fun activities at home to relax and recharge you, and see how it can make you happier during challenging times.
