Stars lined up in a sunny courtyard at Chateau Marmont to see the new fashions from some of the world’s best designers at the 2014 Vogue CFDA Fashion Fund Show. Among the models walking along the runway was Kristin Hoppe, also known as “The White Fox,” for her white blonde hair. Hoppe walked for Gigi Burris and Tanya Taylor for this show, her first time walking for the Vogue CFDA show.
Adding to the appearance of the models was Key Make Up Artist Lottie Stannard, who went with a dewy, sun-kissed look for the models. The gold and bronze helped bring out some of the incredible fashion offered up by top tier designers at the Vogue Fashion Fund show.
The show opened with Diane von Furstenberg memorializing Oscar de la Renta, a fashion designer who was on everyone’s mind that day due to his recent passing. Oscar de la Renta died at the age of 82, and was a beloved member of the fashion world. Reese Witherspoon, the current cover girl for Vogue magazine, also paid tribute to Oscar de la Renta with a floral fit n’ flare designed by the man before he passed.
The fashion fund marked it’s 11th meeting in 2014, and has become somewhat of a status symbol as a show that can bring attention to new designers and new models too. Just participating in the show is enough to give designers and models more reach, even if their label doesn’t win the competition.
As an emerging model, Kristin Hoppe is one of those talents that greatly benefited from the show. She was asked to walk again at the next show, a major highlight for her career. The White Fox looked stunning in a black floral print sundress by Tanya Taylor, as well as an exceptional hat by Gigi Burris, who is well known for her unique accessories, all of which are handcrafted locally in New York City.
Tanya Taylor also reached great heights at the show. With her first collection coming out in just fall of 2012, Tanya Taylor is relatively new to the industry, and placing as a finalist in the fund was a notable achievement. She seemed to revel in the excitement of the show as she stood next to Kristin Hoppe modeling her dress for a photo of Tanya Taylor’s design.
The show went quickly, due to the carefully curated collection presented by each designer, and ended with the designers being picked up by their models and walked out. The designs were very well received both by the judges and by the crowd—Michelle Obama would later wear a dress from the Tanya Taylor spring collection at a naturalization ceremony, marking a great coop for the young designer.
The rest of the work received applause as well as “Oohs” and “Aahs” from the crowd who seemed to appreciate the signature work of the Vogue Fashion Fund Show finalists. It was a big moment for the designers, and also for the White Fox, who is rapidly becoming a rising star in the modeling world.
