INTERVIEW: CONNOR BVRNS

Hi Connor, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been hunkered down, working on new music, and focusing on my mental and physical health. I’m doing great!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Innocence”?

I wanted to create something that would impact people and motivate them to live their lives to the fullest. I see people living with regret; people wishing that they had further explored moments or opportunities in their lives. My hope is that by listening to “Innocence”, even one person might gain the confidence to make the most of their moments in their life.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Not just one moment, but various moments throughout my life have inspired me to release this message. I too have regretted not taking advantage of certain moments in my life. I have delayed in releasing music in the past, and I have learned that I just need to put my music out.  I wanted to write something to remind the world- and myself- that we only have so much time to really live. Its in all of our best interests to live out each moment to the fullest.

Any plans to release any sort of video for the single?

We are working on an animated video for Innocence right now. It will drop SOON!!

How was the recording and writing process? You are known for collaborating with other people – do you tend to take a different approach when working with someone else rather than your own?

When I collaborate with others, I try to create an environment where everyone feels completely free to experiment with no expectations. I feel that any type of pressure or expectation to achieve creatively can kill the process and and the overall vibe. Just let if flow.

I understand you suffer from some rare conditions – can you tell us more about it? How do they actually help you musically? Especially seeing and hearing colors?

Due to CAPD, I just hear frequency different than most people. During my childhood, it was tough to communicate with others, so I was slower than my peers to progress socially. However, over time, I overcame many of those disabilities and embraced it, I guess. I came to realize that I had perfect pitch which helps with my creative process, along with my ability to see color through music. Being able to visually see what I am hearing helps me understand what sounds fit in a certain palette in a project I’m working on.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along? point Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Yes! I’ve got tons of new music in the works right now- I am working with Madison Love on my next song- called “Wreck My Night”. It will drop soon.

Any plans to hit the road (eventually)?

When it’s safe for fans, of course. I miss touring ! !

What else is happening next in Connor Bvrns world?

I am really diving into sound design and the creative aspects of making music as a whole. I have been studying classical piano, and I have been experimenting with different genres of music. I can’t wait to share !
