Interview: Shane Skaar-The Founder of Streignth Sportswear

Hello Shane! How are you?

I’m good, thanks!

What is your occupation?

I am the Founder of Streignth Sportswear- a clothing brand my cousin and I created a little over a year ago.

Who was one person that helped you to get to where you are today?

One person that helped get me to where I am today is my trainer Joshua Garrison. He’s helped me grow immensely- not just physically in strength and muscle mass, but mentally as well. I’ve learned many life lessons, healthy habits, and developed a relentless work ethic because of Josh. Extremely grateful to have him as a mentor.

What is your next big move?

Our next big move will most likely be our summer launch. We’ve had a lot of delays with our manufacturer because of COVID-19, but we’re making the most out of the situation and finding ways to adapt. Our last launch went extremely well back in March, and our new products coming out will be even better. Besides the launch, we plan on really getting our YouTube rolling this summer as we just invested in our own camera and have a couple videographers lined up. Doing vlog-style videos and showing what we do behind the scenes will be huge for us, and it’ll be a blast too.

How do you build your clients trust?

The key to building clients’ trust is letting them see the real you. Being yourself is the best thing you can possibly be in any situation- especially in a business setting. Another key factor in building trust is building our brand’s credibility. Having the opportunities like this to share our brand’s story and progress helps a ton.

What separates you from other competitors?

I believe our brand’s story and strong family-based culture are what separates us from other clothing brands. By no means am I saying our story is better than others, but from my surgery, starting this at age 18, and everything that’s lead up to the creation of Streignth in our eyes is truly special. Aside from our origins, our customers have said our quality matches and even exceeds our competitors like Gymshark, Nike and Alphalete.

What is one milestone you want to hit before you retire?

This is a tough one. From now until I retire, my goal is to build as large of a platform to empower and motivate others as I can. Of course I want us to be financially successful and it would be cool to move to LA or a bigger city someday, but what truly matters most to me right now is making a difference in as many lives as we can. I believe Streignth has unlimited potential, and I want to be as big as Gymshark and Alphalete someday. We’ll have the highest quality clothing possible at the best price, have our own gym, and people repping our logo all over the world.
