TRACK BY TRACK: Vorstellen’s “Encephalon”

North-west heavy rockers VORSETELLAN ( www.facebook.com/Vorstellan/ ) are set to release their engrossing debut album, Encephalon, on Friday 8th May. The Brit tunesters have already been compared to Placebo, Silverchair and Vex Red. The band gave us this exclusive track by track breakdown of the album:

“Monster

“Monster” Is about struggling through life, dealing with schizophrenia and how our ”Inner Demons/Voices” psychologically assault us in the forms of hallucinations, these can become physically devouring trying to convince us we’re worthless, and how ultimately, we might unwillingly submit control of our lives to these hallucinations.

Novocaine

“Novocaine” talks about a break-up, and how, to avoid the negative emotions and pain of dealing with it, we hunt for an escape, in this case, an escape in the form of addiction, the pursuit of bliss, that we couldn’t sustain in reality. A numbness away from the pain.

Avalanche

“Avalanche” discusses the adverse effects of seeing a loved one suffer a mental breakdown and sinking lower into depression, how hard and confusing it can seem. We offer help they don’t want, which in turn angers and upsets us, making everything worse, the cycle continues. An Avalanche of emotions.

Home – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsFZit0u5AM

“Home” is about social and self-oppression. In our minds, we create a home for these negatives to dwell emotionally and physical. “Home,” asks why through the norms of a modern society do we feel oppressed, unable to seek help and why as sufferers, are we are being labelled as “different”.

A Thousand Smiles

“A Thousand Smiles” is about how we create a facade to conceal our despair, we each have two faces, one to show the world and the one we keep hidden in privacy, it’s like wearing a mask, we show people we are “OK” but beneath, we hide the truth from them.

Running Away

“Running Away” discusses being on the outside looking in watching someone battling addiction, an addiction that alters appearance and behaviours, and that we, as the witness, watch them cruise as a passenger to their own mind  wanting to run away from the pressures of life but their “demons” always prevail.

Burn – https://youtu.be/1NDvFIfVCHc

“Burn” is about surveying the devastation of life’s hardships and how they can make you lose faith in yourself and others, leaving you asking more questions you’re never able to find answers for, as a result, it can feel like your hopes and dreams are burning away leaving ashen remains.

My Disaster

”My Disaster” is all about how we are the controllers of our own fate, sometimes however we lose ourselves in our own fears which can become suffocating as we allow our fears to take over and consume us. In essence, this song details how we are the masters of our own disaster.”
