INTERVIEW: Kendra And The Bunnies

Hello Kendra! Thank you for taking time to chat with us today. Tell us all that is going on in your world?

Howdy. Thanks so much for inviting me to interview today. A lot is going on in my world, virtually and musically. Right now, I am in the process of recording my third album titled “of Thank You”. It is full length LP focusing on the story and folklore of americana. It asks, who are we as a society and what do we seek to do with our power as individuals and as a collective?

What is your writing process like? We would love to learn more about it.

The writing process for me coming in waves. It’s like jump roping. I wait and wait and wait then jump in at just the right moment. I let the song speak to me. Whether it’s the hook or a groovy chorus that inspires me, I follow where that light goes, and the process unfolds.

During this time of social distancing – have you written any new music?

I have definitely been writing quite a bit. This time at home has been wonderful in the way of opening up another door for self-reflection. Right when the social distancing started in mid-March, I harnessed this new like over-arching high frequency reverberation. I am very excited for the breakthroughs that I have been witnessing in my art. I am writing some pop songs right now too, which is interesting for my style.

What has been your favorite creative outlet during all of this quarantine time? Any new hobbies?

Writing music, of course. Writing poetry. A little bit of painting. I am actually teaching a masterclass on book writing and publishing 101 this upcoming week. Although it has been somewhat lonely to stay home for almost two months, it’s been nice to catch up on doing things like re-formatting my website for an upcoming re-launch.

Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

I’d love to cue you in on my writing career too. I am a published author of two books. The first one is titled “The Politics of”. It’s a 340 page book of poetry, one-act plays, and philosophical essays. The second book is titled “Project Non-Arch: Operation Clown School”. It’s a long form prose poem that tells my take on cultural conditioning in society. I am currently working on a memoir and a songbook / lyric book / book of poetry to be released in conjunction with my upcoming album, “of Thank You”.
