Kuwaiti 90 year’s old leader returned to his country from the US where he was hospitalized. The Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA) reported that Sheik Sabah returned to Kuwait on Wednesday after being hospitalized in the United States and postpone the meeting with US President, Mr. Donald Trump.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah is the fifth emir of Kuwait and commander of the Kuwaiti armed forces. During his role as Minister of Foreign Affairs, he restored international relations to Kuwait after the Gulf War, as well as to the country after the Iraqi invasion. During his reign, the emir of Kuwait established one of the most potent press freedom laws. He also suggested 27-article UN resolution 2178 focusing on the elimination of da’ish and connected activists.
Sheikh Sabah has ruled the country since 2006 after holding the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs for five decades, the Prime Minister, as well as other official positions. His diplomatic experience has enabled him to play an active role in the Gulf Cooperation Council and as an international mediator in the regional crisis, from the Yemen War to the summits of the United Nations. Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah governed the OPEC oil producer and U.S ally since the year 2006 and has pursued a foreign policy for the duration of more than 50 years.
Al-Sabah has also played a significant role in maintaining peace in the region. After the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia disconnected a land, air siege and sea on Qatar in the year 2017, Kuwait offered to mediate to improve relationships and ends the conflict. He also shared a video clip of the arrival of Sheikh Sabah’s plane to Kuwait and most importantly what he did during his visit to the United Arab Emirates in the year 2014, with a song titled “I Love Kuwait.” This tweet was complemented by the hashtag showing love for Kuwaiti Emir.”
