Hi Yelle, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
hi VENTS! I am confused, happy and sad at the same time, big ups big downs like most of the planet at the moment I believe, no?
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Je T’Aime Encore”?
It’s a love letter to my country, France, a spicy one, cause our mutual love is weird. Produced by GrandMarnier and Oliver, with a music video by Loic Prigent featuring Charlie Le Mindu. We are very proud of this song and we are receiving incredible feedbacks about it, I think people connect a lot in that specific melancholic but hopeful mood.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
Once we decided it would be filmed as sequence shot, it was all about rehearsing and finding the right way to do things… in a doable way! Very diy video, but such a great and involved team of friends, so I think the magic happened!
How was the recording and writing process?
Vaughn Oliver sent us this chord progression, and GrandMarnier got immediately inspired by it and built a song around them. I got inspired seeing GrandMarnier inspired and it all came out very quickly and naturally!
What role does France play in your music?
France is my root, but my branches are anywhere, everywhere. It’s my native language, my culture, so I spontaneously do things with this background, but probably with a “wordlwide feel” if it means something! I am just someone from planet Earth at the end!
How’s your new album coming along?
It’s done! We are going to release it early Septembre, and share a couple of single songs before that date, but yes it’s here in my computer! Very very happy of it!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
The title is here in my brain too, but I think we will announce things all along the way to September, otherwise we won’t have anything to say until then ahah!
What aspect of relationships will you get to explore on this record?
I am a lover, so I explore the aspects of it. Even when I sing about dogs, it’s actually love.
Where else are you finding inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
It’s weird cause things just pop to our minds, GrandMarnier and me, there is nothing specific really. Like, we never say “let’s do a song about this or that”, “let’s do something that sounds like this”. GrandMarnier starts ideas, jamming, and he is brillant, so when he feels something musically, we go for a ping pong.
