AVAWAVES return with brand new single ‘Wild Eyed’, an evocative, minimalist and cinematic interpretation of London Grammar’s 2017 track.
Comprising the prolific violinist Anna Phoebe and pianist and composer Aisling Brouwer, the maverick, creative powerhouse that was previously known as AVA, has evolved into AVAWAVES – by merging AVA with the name of their debut album; ‘WAVES’ which was released on One Little Indian last summer.
Aisling Brouwer explains how ‘Wild Eyed’ came about “We are both huge fans of London Grammar, and Hannah Reid’s voice and this is one of those songs that touches your soul from the inside out. Anna has a gift for mirroring these kinds of inflections, so we initially did it as an experiment for live radio, but then enjoyed performing it so much that we expanded it into a proper release and incorporated it into our live set. The track is by nature already quite cinematic, but for the recording we also really wanted to have live drums and Francesco Lucidi really brought the track to life with his drum part. It’s a cinematic re-interpretation of an epic track.”
