Today we are pleased to team up with the folks of Alexander Jean for not one, but two tracks that will give you a kick during these rather somber days. Starting off with “Nevermind,” a song that has a Western vibe with one heavy guitar chord playing throughout the song. BC’s powerhouse vocals shine in a way that is both hard hitting yet very subtle.
In regards “Nevermind,” the band comments “This is a new chapter for us, and what better way to turn the page than by writing about our past to propel us into our future. It’s about our journey in life and the music industry. Our struggles that later turn into realizations of taking back our power and doing things our way for the purpose of love and happiness. Although the unknown can be a mind fuck, it can also be exciting and something to look forward to. It’s about surrendering yourself from fear to love and letting go of this ‘idea’ of happiness and success, or how things are “supposed to be.” It’s not “us against the world” type of song, but more of “as long as there is ‘us’ we can do anything in this world.”
On the other side of the coin is “For Anybody Wondering,” an infectious single that just like an earworm will get stuck in your brain thanks to the way husband & wife duo, Mark Alexander Ballas and BC Jean’s vocals blend together in such an harmonious way, like a low key mix of punk attitude and pop sensibilities.
When it comes to “For Anybody Wondering,” the band says “This song is one of those that fell from the sky – a subconscious, meant to be moment. Lyrically we took a darker approach with a hint of sarcasm, while the mood through the music and melody is actually the opposite. It’s about humans hurting one another and the disappointment that goes along with it. We found through personal experience not to expect anything from anyone, and the importance of being able to shrug off negativity and keep moving forward. All we’re saying is what we’re thinking for anybody wondering..“
