PREMIERE: Kiran+Nivi Release New Single “Real Friend”

Drawing from their Indian culture, using ethnic instruments in their music including the tabla and the mridangram, K+N seek to introduce today’s music consumers to these beautiful indigenous instruments all in an irresistible record and hook. Both trained in Indian Classical music theory, Kiran + Nivi defy stereotyped norms, choosing to pursue studies in Music, as opposed to the typical Engineering or Medical route of their peers. At a young age, both girls experienced difficulty with early speech. After some unfruitful visits to a speech therapist, the twins found themselves singing their first words at church, perfectly in sync and harmonized.

As for newly released single, “Real Friend” – not only do they incorporate a unique soundscape authentic to their heritage, but they also sing lyrically addressing many issues today in the world. During these difficult Covid19 times, you develop a deeper understanding of the value of having a real friend, and develop a new sense of who is important and who/what matters. Talking about senses, their new vertical video goes for the simple yet effective using shadows and good cinematography to build upon the many themes of the song.
