Hi Naman, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

SPANKR – Hi Guys, I am fine. Hope you are doing great as well. I have been busy with production these past few weeks. Thanks for connecting with me as I highly regard VENTS Magazine’s contribution to the EDM scene.

Glad to have this featurette opportunity.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Stories”?

SPANKR –  Well, I always found it important to experiment with new styles and genres. Dhirendra (Tripbeat) and I had been friends on Facebook for years and we regularly shared and discussed ideas with each other. We eventually decided to work on something together and make something that was distinguishable from the other tracks out there. Hence, ‘Stories’ was born.

It was a lot of fun working with Dhirendra and I’m really proud of the result.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

SPANKR –Yeah! It was actually the melody, in the unfinished version that I was really attracted to,so I decided to hang out and look for some inspiration to finish the track. On my way back I heard a band of two really young street performers play customized instruments that created a soothing harmonic sound and it struck me with a lot of amazing ideas and so I got back home and started to work on the track. The overall idea of the track was to keep it simple yet catchy, both at the same time. Big shout to Tara Gabriel for her amazing vocals and the talented self managed to deliver the quality we’ve been looking forward to work with.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

SPANKR – The cinematic music video of Stories is available on my youtube channel. We tried to manifest the surroundings in a very well balanced nature inspired theme. The cool sea breeze, fresh air from the forests, the big gigantic mountains could all be felt in it. The simple lifestyle of not so rich, yet richer has been displayed in the video

How was the recording and writing process?

SPANKR – It all began early in January 2019 when I & Dhirendra were discussing our unfinished projects, and all of a sudden we found this unfinished instrumental to Stories. It was just an idea at that point of time but it caught my ear and so we decided to work on it. We kept sharing project stems, FL project files and  finalized the project. But something felt missing. So he contacted his good friend Tara Gabriel regarding the vocals. Not long since we sent the instrumental to her, we got back in response the amazing vocals that we have on the track.

The vocals were recorded by Tara at her home studio and we managed to give them the professional touch as music producers.

With each of your work gaining more and more momentum – does that put any pressure on you as work on new material or rather the opposite?

SPANKR –  Not at all, there’s no pressure. I don’t think anyone can ever make good music under pressure. When I make music, the only thing I keep in mind is to make something that my friends and my fans would love listening to, together. But yes, I do keep in mind to constantly better my skills and evolve my style. One has to constantly keep learning, so as to improve one’s production.

Do you tend to take a different approach when collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?

SPANKR – Well, everyone has their own unique approach, perspective and workflow, when it comes to making music. I have my own ways of doing it. While collaborating with someone else, I usually pay close attention to their approach of working things out and picking up things that I have yet to experiment with.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

SPANKR – Well, I’ve been working on a lot of new music lately and this time i tried to work on some unexperimented genres by me. So, you should expect some Groove House, Trap and much more coming your way soon.  I’m super excited to show it to everyone out there.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

SPANKR – I’ve signed some new music recently. We could expect it to come out real soon. Maybe, just a couple weeks from now. (Wink-Wink)

Any plans to hit the road?

SPANKR – Not anytime soon. Due to the outbreak of the Novel Corona Virus nCOVID-19 pandemic, all of the operations are on hold. Venues have cancelled and postponed all the events as of now. I hope to be back on the road as soon as the lockdown lifts.

In terms of production, I have some really cool tracks lined up along with some big collaborations with international artists (A little hush-hush on that).

So, it’s going to be great! Stay tuned.

What else is happening next in SPANKR’s world?

SPANKR –  Well, I am working as per my goal of creating captivating tracks. My aim is to sign my music on labels like Dharma Worldwide, Revealed Recordings, Universal Music, Lowly Palace (Trap Nation) and giants – Spinnin’ Records. So stay tuned to my social media pages as more info will be there shortly. I am also working towards performing alongside headliners at music festivals like Sunburn, VH1 Supersonic, EVC at this stage.

Thanks for having me, It was a great experience and I highly regard VENTS Magazine’s work & stature it has at a global level. Can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve been working on. Cheers!

Motivational Tip : Everytime I learn a new thing, something haunts me in constant, that I don’t know a lot more, and that’s what keeps me going.

Stay Home. Stay Safe.
