Interview: Anthony Kannon

Hi Anthony Kannon! How are you?

I’m doing well right now.  Despite the recent shutdowns and the state of the world, I have found ways to be productive while trying to make the most of this situation.  I feel confident in the near future.

Where are you from?

I am from Ithaca. A small town in upstate New York most notably known for its college scene and beautiful natural scenery.

What is your greatest inspiration for your music?

My greatest inspiration is my family, and other art itself.  I draw my art from real life  experiences, and try to use the world as my canvas.  My family keeps me going on a daily basis, and motivates me not only be the best artist possible-but also the best human I can be.  I am forever grateful for them.

What are 3 words that describe your music?

Hmmmm.  That is a hard question.  I would say: -unapologetic -thought provoking -electrifying

What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?

Right after I got shot, it was really hard to pull from that experience.  Remembering how I felt, how the room smelled, what i saw.. it was all overwhelming.  I would say that was the hardest subject I ever opened up about.

What are the challenges of being an artist?

It’s always hard to reach new people.  I know lots of artists who struggle to stay motivated due to how long the journey takes.  It’s a process, but you must treat it like such.  It’s a marathon, not a sprint; if you aren’t willing to the play the “long” game, then you might not be cut out for this business.

Are you planning on releasing new music soon?

Absolutely. Starting May 1st, a new song every 2 weeks will be released onto all streaming platforms.
