South West London rapper, songwriter and visual creative AyHay has returned this month with the release of his long-awaited debut album entitled ‘Wait’. The eight-track offering showcases his unique approach to music, pulling inspiration from the melodic side of US Trap alongside a kaleidoscope of differing UK and US rap flows to create something that is uniquely his own. Known for his diverse flows, witty bars (that can range from the deeply real to the completely absurd), hard hitting trap beats, catchy hooks and of course his spiral earrings – AyHay’s music has resonated around the globe resulting in nearly 200K streams on Spotify alone.
This debut LP has been in the works for sometime and it was this ‘wait’ which inspired the title. Dropped on somewhat on a whim during lockdown, the album represents a new chapter for the artist who has once again teamed up with Columbus (Ohio) producer SLeh, with help from featured artists VI Seconds, Kryciz, Charlotte Terry and Festo K. With the album, AyHay and SLeh have delivered an exciting banger filled project, packed full of stark and synth led sounds to accompany AyHay’s eclectic flow. Speaking of the collab and its inspiration on the cover art AyHay explains:
“I wanted the album cover to reflect the cold, eerily bright soundtrack that SLeh and myself created to immerse the listener into our world.”
This follows previous release, the jaw dropping music video for ‘OMG’ – a stunning self-directed video was shot in Bangkok in the abandoned ‘Ghost Tower’. There’s also a brand new music video for ‘Don’t Hit My Line’ in the works, due out in May.
